Bhopal: In an another setback to Project Cheetah, on Tuesday afternoon , a Namibian cheetah named Shaurya died in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh, marking the 10th cheetah death since their reintroduction to India in 2022.

The cause of death is yet to be determined after a post-mortem. Seven adults and three cubs have succumbed to various infections in the park.

The cheetah revival project, initiated after their extinction in India in 1952, faced setbacks with deaths attributed to insect-borne infections during the monsoon season. The recent incident involved Shaurya displaying incoordination and a staggering gait, leading to unsuccessful revival attempts and subsequent CPR failure.
